Use three practical groups

  • Long pieces: studs, track, flashing, and conduit.
  • Small pieces: brackets, hinges, screws, and hardware.
  • Special review: tanks, appliances, batteries, sealed containers, and electrical equipment.

Protect the carry route

Point cut ends inward and avoid overfilled bins. A container that is safe while sitting still may become unsafe when tilted or lifted. Keep the route free of cords and loose screws.

Do not guess about sealed equipment

A metal object is not automatically ordinary scrap. Cylinders, tanks, refrigerant-bearing appliances, batteries, and equipment with oils or chemicals may need specific handling. Identify them before they are moved.

Pickup photo set

  • Wide view of all metal.
  • Close view of sharp or long pieces.
  • Labels or model plates on appliances, without sharing personal data.
  • Access route and parking.

EPA household hazardous waste guidance advises special care for products that can catch fire, react, explode, or contain corrosive or toxic ingredients. Local programs control acceptance.
